Kitchen Reno

My kitchen is a HUGE mess right now, but you won't hear me complaining!
It's a mess because things are finally getting done in there. Happy day!

Last week my darling husband who works so hard each day at work would come
home and scrape and putty and sand all the upper cabinets on the stove side of the kitchen.
Then he primed over the heavy 1950's cabin inspired stain with a stain blocking primer that can be smelled from 4 miles away and then painted two coats of paint.

We will paint the crown molding to match the cabinets soon, but
there's a chance Caleb might have to take down the crown when he builds out on the other side.

He also primed and painted all the new doors he built earlier this year to replace the old ones.
The little box area above the stove will hold a small microwave (we aren't really microwave people) and below that is a small drawer. Either side of the microwave will have pull out spice racks!
I'm very excited about those. We're trying to utilize every inch of space in the kitchen.

Here's the opposite side of the stove. Caleb had to move the water line that runs
into the fridge because whoever installed it years ago put it a couple of inches out from the base
boards which meant that the fridge sticks out like a foot from the edge of the counter.

Cabe is also doing some major demo to the cabinets around the fridge. It's really wasted space
all crammed into one corner and so we're going to take out some of the counter and frame out a
huge cabinet piece to give the fridge a "built in" feel. It will be a lot of work, but I think it will be so worth it in the end.

The water main that had to be moved and part of the demo'd cabinet.
